Tommaso Petrolo is a choreographer and performer based in Rome, active for over twelve years in the international contemporary dance scene. He trained at Balletto di Roma under the direction of Franca Bartolomei, and later continued his studies in New York at the Peridance Capezio Center, where he danced as an apprentice with the company directed by Igal Perry, working with artists such as Sidra Bell, Francesca Harper, Charlotta Hofverholm, and Manuel Vignoulle.

From 2016 to 2024 he lived in the United Kingdom, developing an artistic path between choreography, performance, and pedagogy. He collaborated with renowned companies such as Van Huynh Company (where he currently serves as Rehearsal Director and Artistic Assistant), Tavaziva, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Neus Gil Cortés, Mathieu Geffré, and Martino Muller.

His choreographic work explores themes related to queer identity, vulnerability, and political resistance, with a strongly human and performative perspective. His creations have been presented in Italy, the United Kingdom, Egypt, and India.

In parallel, Tommaso is active as a teacher in numerous European and international institutions and academies, including Rambert School, The Place, National Centre for Circus Arts, London Studio Centre, RIDA Roma, ADT Verona, and Balletto di Roma. He has led workshops across Asia, North America, and Latin America, developing a hybrid and inclusive pedagogy open to improvisation and inspired by the work of artists such as Renan Martins, Thomas Hauert, and Salva Sanchis.

He is the co-founder and co-director of Coordinate Festival, an international performing arts platform based in Calcata (VT), promoting contemporary dance across local landscapes and communities.

He is also the coordinator of Proteo ETS, a third-sector organisation active in cultural production and the development of independent projects, with a strong focus on sustainability, inclusion, and social transformation.

From 2017 to 2021 he was part of the curatorial team of Dance Bridges Festival (IN).

He is currently focused on the production of new works and the expansion of artistic and educational activities connected to both the festival and the Proteo network.
